More About Us

Four Craftsmen Publishing's three and sometimes four person staff concentrates on developing professional quality printed publications the giant publishing houses won't handle. These products usually are sold directly to readers, only occasionally through book stores.  With modern computers Four Craftsmen operates far from the traditional big city homes of book and magazine publishing. Even the printing of our products has been done in a plant just up the road.  We're in Lakeside, Arizona, a small mountain town perched on the Mogollon Rim.  The key people in the operation have all written for us, and their biographies appear elsewhere on the site.

The publisher and his wife dreamed of publishing orthodox yet unusual Christian thinking for many years while he troubleshot failing newspapers, repaired computers, and constructed school electrical and telephone systems.  The name grew out of teaching by Phil Buechler, who braved hostile governments in Iron Curtain and Moslem nations to plant churches and teach leaders of existing churches.  On a visit to an Arizona church, Phil brought up the four craftsmen who appear in Zechariah 1:20 and 21 in the Bible.  These craftsmen terrify and throw down enemies of God and His work.  That described the purpose of Four Craftsmen Publishing.

The dream remained only a dream until a Canadian magazine publisher ran short of resources to produce a commissioned book on horse training.  Taking over the project and bringing Back Yard Walkin' Training Tips to print brought the publishing dream to life.  The book includes an (optional) chapter about Jesus Christ, the master trainer of horses and people.

Still, books about horses didn't quite fulfill the dream.  Condensing many of Phil Buechler's ideas on how to live in the world without yielding to its worst ideas did.  Our Christian Living  section also includes a survey course on the Bible.  A focus on weapons for spiritual battles in another publication may give you surprising insights into what you already know and do.  A book on God's grace for financial life is in the mill.

Four Craftsmen is a conventional publisher in the sense that we buy rights from authors, design the books and put them in print at our expense, and pay writers royalties based on book sales.
Our publications are delivered by the United States Post Office. Payment in advance by check, money order, Visa or Mastercard is expected. No charge is made to a credit card account until the day a product ships. Book stores doing a favor to customers should contact us for special pricing and other details.
